11/24/2023 0 Comments Now im hungry![]() ![]() ![]() But I can drop the extra 50 pounds I've been hauling around for the last many years, meaning less lower back pain, less snoring, more energy, higher self-esteem, and no more cringing when I have to look at myself naked. I've basically had to accept the fact that at age 41, I am not going to get my 20-year-old body back again (I'm still coping with the fact that I'm never going to be an astronaut, either, but that's a separate thread). and again, since alcohol is a major carb source, if you reduce your carb intake, your cravings for alcohol will subside more quickly than if you don't! The less carbs you eat, the less your body will crave them. There is a metric shitload of information out there about low-carb diets, but here is a list to help get you started. Let me be the first to say that I have yet to really make this step, but I think, thanks to allalucier's post, that this is the next phase in my journey of recovery.īasically, you will need to start weaning your body off carbs, pure and simple. Also, interestingly, I read that non-alcoholic beer can have up to twice the amount of carbs as regular beer.Ĭonsciously reducing your carb intake is another big step on the road to health and is also an important part of recovering from alcohol abuse. Wine always has some carbs in it, while beer has the most. The only beverages that contains no carbs are distilled products. *I have been corrected about all alcohol containing carbs. All forms of alcohol are extremely high in carbohydrates calories, and so when you deny your body booze, it seeks to replace those carbs with all kinds of other stuff, like candy, cookies, cakes, sandwiches, pizza, on and on. This is why so many of us stuff our faces non-stop after we quit boozing it up. ![]() My doctor told me that when the body becomes accustomed to huge amount of carbohydrates, which is what alcohol offers, it continues to desire them in a big way. I thought I would make this post both to explain why this is happening, and how dealing with it can actually HELP REDUCE FUTURE CRAVINGS FOR ALCOHOL. In this post allalucier mentioned that she is extremely hungry all the time, which reminded me that the same thing happened to me after I quit. (Useful for small screens.) Check-In here.
